Productive Pittsburgh, in partnership with students from Point Park University’s Rowland School of Business, hosted a private NFL Draft-themed event on April 8, 2026, to officially launch a new community-driven initiative aimed at increasing awareness, engagement and support for individuals experiencing homelessness in Pittsburgh.

The event served as the formal launch of an expanded effort by Productive Pittsburgh to deepen community partnerships, elevate its Gold Card program and connect more unhoused individuals with critical resources across the city. By aligning with the energy and visibility of NFL Draft Week, the initiative aims to draw greater public attention to the ongoing challenges of homelessness while mobilizing local support.

"I am very proud of our students who helped produce a first-class event that provided a platform for several non-profits to share the great work they are doing to make our community stronger via our charity draft,” said Stephen Tanzilli, J.D., dean of the Rowland School of Business. 

Taking place at McFadden’s on the North Shore, the event honored 13 community partners actively addressing homelessness, substance abuse and mental health challenges. Throughout the evening, attendees entered via a red carpet, enjoyed main-stage presentations and engaged in interactive networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration.

“At Productive Pittsburgh, we are excited to launch this initiative alongside the creative and energetic students from the Point Park University’s Rowland School of Business,” said Jim Settembrino, CEO of Productive Pittsburgh. “This event is more than a celebration, it’s a starting point for expanded impact and bringing together organizations committed to providing a hand up instead of a handout while working toward a vision where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Students helped plan events for the celebration during their classes, seeing the real-world results of their efforts to plan a successful launch party. The experience was something students were happy to help with, as it not only enhanced their education and confidence in their skills but also allowed them to support a good cause. 

“It’s been a great opportunity to work with a client and gain real-world experience,” said Grace Flanick, a senior in the class. “I’ve strengthened my collaboration and communication skills through this partnership.”
