Springboard Danse's summer project at Point Park University on May 24 - June 12, 2026, will welcome 135 dancers, 11 Principal Companies, three Resident Choreographers and six Emerging Choreographers from around the world.

In line with their mission to foster connections with international artists, Springboard offers dancers the opportunity to delve into works by artists from the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden, France, Germany, Ireland and the United States. The summer project culminates in a showing of these works for industry professionals, including directors, producers, casting agents, artist managers, stagers and choreographers.

Springboard Danse is designed to facilitate major career transitions, whether between jobs or during an artist's first job search. Since the organization’s inception in 2001, Springboard has curated artists from over 40 countries and has a renowned reputation for connecting more than 900 dancers to paid jobs.

Artists from Springboard’s Emerging and Resident Choreographer Programs will present excerpts of works in the PLATFORM, a free public showing held in the George Rowland White Performance Center on May 29 at 5:30 p.m. These nine choreographers come from diverse backgrounds and create works that reflect their unique artistic perspectives. Following last year’s project, Garfield Lemonius, dean and artistic director of Point Park's School of Dance, commissioned thrilling new works for the department by Emerging Choreographers Akira Uchida and Jessi Stegall.

What Artists Say About Springboard Danse

“Springboard is more than just a creative process or taking class, it’s about connecting with the community and connecting dancers with companies and experiences. It serves as a hub for new collaborations in the dance world.” — Peter Chu, founder and artistic director of chuthis, a 2014, 2017 and 2025 Principal Company.

“Springboard isn’t like most summer programs. I feel like I’ve made deep, true connections with more artists than I ever have before, and I can tell I’ll know these people for a lifetime. I got to dance with choreographers that I’ve only dreamed of working with and I’ve grown exponentially.” — Cameron Stedman, 2025 Springboard dancer and a Point Park alumna.

“I’m thrilled that we met so many talented artists, invited several to our audition, and even hired a dancer we might never have otherwise discovered. More importantly, we had the opportunity to share time with celebrated teaching artists, inspiring choreographers and the next generation of performers from across the country. What an exceptional experience to witness so much talent gathered in one place.” — Dante Puleio, artistic director, Limón Dance Company.

“Springboard has greatly impacted our artistic journey. As Emerging Choreographers, we staged the beginnings of a piece that later became our first touring work. Being in this community of other brilliant emerging artists and being in this intensive process allows us to dream … within an ecosystem of support.” — Anna Thompson, co-founding choreographer of slowdanger and a 2018 Springboard Emerging Choreographer and 2025 Springboard Resident Choreographer.
