Why did you choose Point Park’s B.F.A. in dance (modern) program and what do you enjoy about it?

I chose Point Park’s dance program because it is so versatile. While I wanted to focus on my technique in the modern concentration, I knew I would be able to train in a variety of styles.

How has your minor in musical theatre for dancers enhanced your education?

My minor in musical theatre for dancers has completely changed my career trajectory. It has provided me the tools and the opportunity to explore musical theatre in a way that prepares me for graduation. I did not think a career in musical theatre was possible when I first came to Point Park, but because of the experience I have gained through the program, I am pursuing it now.

When did it all come together that you made the right decision to major in dance at Point Park?

In 2020, during my freshman year, we had limitations in our training because of the pandemic. Even with these restrictions, I remember feeling so inspired and grateful to do what I love and believed that I could succeed in this industry.

What are the benefits of living and learning in Downtown Pittsburgh?

The main benefit of living in Downtown Pittsburgh, for me, is being close to everything I have to do. I love being within walking distance to campus and all my friends. I also work at a restaurant downtown, so it is convenient to be able to make it to work and school in a short walk. It is also awesome to be close to so many theaters in Pittsburgh's Cultural District to see shows.

What advice do you have for a student auditioning for the Conservatory of Performing Arts?

Don’t hold anything back when you audition for the Conservatory. Do your best and don’t worry about what anyone else is doing. What’s right for you won’t pass you by!
