Sunday, June 14 - Saturday, July 25, 2026 | Resident & Commuter Options

For more than 40 years, Point Park University’s International Summer Dance program has welcomed talented dancers, teachers and musicians from across the country and around the globe. Join us in this rigorous program with celebrations of myriad cultures united through the love of dance! Our comprehensive dance program specializes in three styles - Ballet, Jazz and Modern.  The curriculum includes daily technique classes in ballet, jazz and modern, supplemented by Pointe and variations, male technique, pas de deux, tap, music for dancers, Pilates and yoga.

Students who register for our 6-week session are eligible to participate in our fully-produced Performance.
No performance opportunity is available for our 3- and 2-week students.

Students must be accepted into the program before they can register.
Awarded scholarships will be manually added by our team after we receive your registration and the registration fee is paid.

Program Dates
6-week: Sunday, June 14 - Saturday, July 25, 2026
3-week: Sunday, June 14 - Friday, July 3, 2026
2-week: Sunday, July 5 - Friday, July 17, 2026

Each program has a capacity of 75 dancers.

Please be aware that this program is designed for serious, pre-professional dancers who are currently conditioned and receiving training. International Summer Dance is a very selective and highly intensive program geared towards young dancers who are currently training for a minimum of 6+ hours per week. If you are not familiar with a dance intensive, we recommend that students participate in our Summer Dance Workshop. International Summer Dance is for intermediate to advanced students only.

AGE REQUIREMENT:
Students, ages 10 - 30 years old, may apply to our summer intensive. On-campus housing accommodations are available to students who are at least 14 years old.

HEALTH REQUIREMENT:
A doctor’s note is not required for auditions or registration. We expect each family to determine the health and safety of the individual student before participating in events.

ARTISTIC REQUIREMENT:
All students must be accepted into the program. Acceptance is by audition only. If you’ve attended the program in previous years or have been accepted into Point Park's Conservatory, you do not need to audition again. You can simply note this during registration.

RETURNING STUDENTS:
If you have participated in the International Summer Dance program in the past, you do NOT need to audition again. Thank you for your continued interest in our intensive! When available, click the "REGISTER HERE" button above to get started. You will need to pay the required deposit to reserve your spot and of course, don’t forget to include your returner discount code when you register (Discount Code: RETURNER26).

Returning students who attend the 2-week session will receive $50.00 off their tuition cost.
Returning students who attend the 3-week session will receive $100.00 off their tuition cost.
Returning students who attend the 6-week session will receive $200.00 off their tuition cost.

POINT PARK STUDENTS:
Current Point Park students who auditioned for and have been accepted into the Conservatory of Performing Arts are automatically accepted into the International Summer Dance Program. That includes both Dance and Theatre majors.

Current Point Park students receive 50% off tuition (room and board is not included). Accepted students do not have to audition for this program unless they are interested in receiving additional scholarship funds. This benefit is also available to incoming accepted freshman students who are academically AND artistically admitted to the incoming undergraduate class. A deposit to Admissions must be made to take advantage of this benefit.

FOR CREDIT INFORMATION: Point Park dancers can receive credit during Summer Dance for Incompletes due to illness or injury accrued during the school year. One supplemental credit in Ballet, Jazz or Modern is available provided that the student completes all 6 weeks and attends 42 hours of classes. These credits/hours will be determined by the faculty member who issued the Incomplete grade and Colleen Hooper. Please note that students will need to pay the experiential fee associated with each credit.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A student doesn't have to be advanced in Pointe to participate in our program. Instead, we offer several alternatives. You will be able to choose from a menu prior to the start of the program.  For those who are interested and capable of Pointe, class will be offered once a day for 1 hour.

For more than three decades, Point Park University's International Summer Dance has welcomed talented dancers, teachers and musicians from around the globe. We have previously hosted students from Argentina, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, South Korea, Sweden, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Every year, our studios, corridors, dining halls and parks are filled with joyful celebrations of myriad cultures united by the love of dance.

Point Park University - and the city of Pittsburgh - welcome our international students and teachers with open arms and open hearts. Point Park University is an inclusive community that believes that diversity and inclusion are vital to the well-being of everyone here, to the educational mission of Point Park, and to a bright and peaceful future.

After all, without our international students, it would not be International Summer Dance. We look forward to seeing you and will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Please be aware that we cannot provide accommodations prior to or after the duration of the program. If you have a unique situation, please reach out to the Department to discuss your situation 1-on-1.

As International Summer Dance is a non-credit program, most students should apply to obtain a B-2 Tourism Visitor Visa. The B-type visa covers “Enrollment in a short recreational course of study, not for credit toward a degree (for example, a two-day cooking class while on vacation).” For more information and requirements for U.S. entry, please visit the Travel.State.Gov. webpage.

  • Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 1 - 4 pm
  • Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 1 - 4 pm

Please complete the steps below for in-person auditions:

Step 1: Create an account on Acceptd. This will be used to register for an on-campus audition and receive the results of the audition.

Step 2: Be sure to mark that you will attend an on-campus audition. This will bypass the virtual video submission.

Step 3: Pay the $40.00 audition fee on Acceptd. Once paid, the Office of Pre-College Programs will move students to the scheduling stage of the process.

Step 4: Register for an on-campus audition date. You will receive confirmation of your selected on-campus audition date.

The $40.00 audition fee is required. Fee is paid upon completion of the application process via Acceptd. Payment is non-refundable.

Applicants can be considered for an audition fee waiver. A waiver is based upon an applicant’s financial circumstances; i.e., you have received or are eligible to receive a College Board (SAT) or NACAC application fee waiver, you are Federal Pell Grant eligible (based upon your FAFSA) or your current financial situation stipulates that the audition fee would present a hardship.

In order to process a waived fee, you will need to go directly through Acceptd. Specific information regarding the requirements and process to request a fee waiver is available on Acceptd's website.

Overview:

All auditions will be evaluated for artistic scholarship consideration. Students are expected to present a professional appearance. Loose clothing, sweatpants, skirts, and leg warmers are not permitted. Applicants need to secure long hair in a bun.

Walk-ins are welcome, but we encourage students to pre-register online on Acceptd so we can coordinate appropriately and provide any additional information. Candidates will be notified within 2-4 weeks of their acceptance and scholarship status. Please be sure to provide an active email address on your registration form(s).

In-person auditions consist of a 3-hour class that focuses on Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, and Modern:

Scholarship Overview

Scholarship awards will be valid for one year from the award date. For example, scholarships awarded for the 2026 season will be valid through the 2027 season. If you do not utilize your awarded scholarship within the one year period, your scholarship will be void and you'll need to audition again for scholarship consideration. These scholarships may be rolled over within the one year period. For example, a scholarship awarded in the 2026 season, may be utilized for both the 2026 and 2027 program.

Artistic merit scholarships are available to those who are seen at a Point Park Conservatory audition or apply through our video portal, Accept'd. During the audition, students are evaluated on coordination, muscular strength, technique and comprehension. Scholarships are only applicable towards tuition and cannot be applied towards the deposit, room and board fees, or additional extracirricular opportunities. Scholarship amounts range from low, mid, high, half and full tuition coverage. Please be aware that our scholarships are program-specific and nontransferable to other programs.

Students who have previously been accepted into our program do not need to audition again unless they wish to be considered for an artistic scholarship, which will void and supersede any previous award if the new award is higher.

All scholarships are manually added by our team AFTER we receive your registration and deposit.

Scholarships will be based on the 6-week program. If a student wishes to attend the 3-week or 2-week program, the scholarship level will be reduced. Please review the acceptance email or letter with additional details on the tiered scholarships.
