“We are thrilled by how students have embraced the scope and variety of programs we offered this summer. Our faculty and staff have worked hard to offer an exceptional variety of camps and intensives that are not only fun and interactive but also bring unique opportunities for students to experience a real college campus."

Screenwriting, dance, entrepreneurship, musical theatre and the iconic Dungeons and Dragons game are just a few of the Pre-College Intensives and Summer Camps that have drawn record enrollment at Point Park University this summer.

“We are thrilled by how students have embraced the scope and variety of programs we offered this summer,” said Vincent Rugani, director of Pre-College Programs. “Our faculty and staff have worked hard to offer an exceptional variety of camps and intensives that are not only fun and interactive but also bring unique opportunities for students to experience a real college campus."

Point Park University’s Pre-College Intensive and Summer Camp enrollment numbers increased 33 percent from last summer, the largest increase in the history of the program, representing students from a record 30 states and three countries.

Among the most popular new offerings was the Musical Theatre Summer Intensive.

“Our stellar faculty was second to none in making this camp a success," said Gary Kline, associate dean and artistic director, School of Theatre, Film and Animation, who helped develop the program. "We had local students joined by their peers from Florida, New York and Wisconsin, and they all had an opportunity to grow their musical skills and personal dreams.”

The growth in summer enrollment is reflective of increasing interest among high school students for Point Park’s vibrant Downtown campus. The University is anticipating an increase of more than 25 percent in first-year freshmen for the upcoming fall semester, a considerable jump from last year’s incoming class.

To support this growth, Point Park is making its popular Visit Scholarship a permanent fixture of the school’s admissions process. This year, the scholarship opportunity, valued at $4,000, is exclusively available to high school juniors and seniors who visit the University's Downtown location between Aug. 1, 2025, and Feb. 28, 2026.

"Our Pre-College Intensives and Summer Camps are designed to not only ignite students’ passions but also serve as a meaningful first step on their pathway to college,” said Marlin Collingwood, vice president for Enrollment Management and Marketing. “Students who participate in these programs experience campus life first-hand and are more likely to envision themselves as part of the Point Park community. This investment in their future ensures that early engagement translates directly into both educational opportunity and real college affordability."

Plans are already underway for next year’s Pre-College Intensive and Summer Camp offerings.

“Even though some of our camps are still in full swing, we’ve gotten great feedback that will help provide direction for next year, including expanding the Musical Theatre Summer Intensive and adding new programs to coincide with our academic program offerings, ” said Rugani.  “We want to be the first place students and their parents look to provide meaningful, accessible and exceptional summer enrichment.”
