“This remarkable freshman class is a strong sign that our innovative programs and hands-on learning model resonate with students, even amidst the so-called enrollment cliff affecting many institutions. We will continue to grow Point Park aggressively as a vibrant institution and an active community partner in Downtown Pittsburgh.”

Point Park University is set to welcome its largest incoming freshman class in years this fall, with first-year enrollment expected to increase by more than 25 percent. This growth comes despite broader trends of declining college-aged populations often referred to as the “enrollment cliff,” which many in higher education have anticipated for several years. Point Park’s continued rebound defies these predictions and underscores the University’s rising appeal.

“Our overall enrollment has increased over the past two years, and we expect another substantial increase for the upcoming fall semester,” said Dr. Chris W. Brussalis, president.

Point Park is also witnessing historic growth in its athletics program. This fall, the University will host the largest number of student-athletes on campus as it enters its second year of play in the Mountain East Conference of NCAA Division II. The expansion includes adding new sports such as men’s and women’s wrestling and lacrosse, further enhancing the student experience and engagement.

Point Park’s renowned Conservatory of Performing Arts is seeing increased interest from students and families since the establishment of the School of Dance and the School of Theatre, Film and Animation in January.

“The creation of the new schools has significantly elevated these programs, reinforcing our leadership in arts and education while building on a nationally recognized tradition of excellence and innovation in performance,” Dr. Brussalis said. “We are preparing students for dynamic careers in dance, theatre, film, and animation through rigorous training, cutting-edge resources, and strong industry connections.”

The sizable new class of first-year freshmen represents a remarkably diverse group of students from rural, urban, and suburban communities from Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and beyond, according to Marlin Collingwood, vice president for enrollment management.

“This geographic diversity, combined with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, enriches our campus community and strengthens the educational environment we offer. The growth we’re seeing reflects the rising reputation of Point Park as a welcoming and dynamic place to pursue higher education,” Collingwood said.

Point Park University continues to move forward with its Pioneer Vision 2030 strategic plan, aiming to increase overall enrollment by 30 percent by 2030 while enhancing academic offerings and campus life in Downtown Pittsburgh.
